How Elvis Presley was convinced by Priscilla Presley to record this hit song

Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley’s relationship was intimate, but at least a small creative aspect existed.

Priscilla could not, by her own admission, tell her husband which songs to sing. She persuaded him, however, to sing one of his late hits. Here is a look at how she persuaded him to record the album.

One of the most unique songs recorded ever by Elvis Presley

Elvis remains one of America’s most popular and significant show business icons.

After all, on the Discovery Channel list of greatest Americans, he was ranked #8 – better than any other entertainer. It only makes sense that he has recorded a song that captures pieces of American history – “An American Trilogy.” by Mickey Newberry.

“An America Trilogy” is a medley of American folk songs, rather than a traditional song. The Battle Hymn of the Republic – a marching song popular with Union troops during the American Civil War – is probably the most famous of the three tunes in the medley.

‘All My Trials,’ an African American spiritual song that was used as a protest song, is another song in the trilogy.

The other song in the medley is “Dixie,” a folk song from before the Civil War that was used as the Confederacy’s national anthem. The song was a popular radio piece in the Southern states in the 1970s, but everything related to the Confederacy is inflammatory today. The recording of the song by Newberry had a major influence on Priscilla.

No one will usually ever carry him songs.

Except for movie songs that went with the scenes, Elvis chose all his songs. No one ever said, ‘Hey El, you’ve got to do this song.’ So I said, ‘There’s a song you really should listen to.’ And he said, ‘Well, put it on.’ So I did, and he just sat at the desk. He turned his head and nodded to it sort of. He closed his eyes and said, ‘Damn, damn good song.’ And the next thing I knew, we’re back in.

So did America gobble up the “An American Trilogy” rendition of Elvis? On the Billboard Hot 100, the track reached No. 66.

Many songs which were more commercially popular were released by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. It is exceedingly rare, however, for a recording of old folk songs to make the charts at all.

Years later, the album reverberated again. Rolling Stone published a poll in 2015 on the favourite Elvis songs of its readers. “An American Trilogy” was eighth on the chart, behind “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Love Me Tender,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “In the Ghetto,” “If I Can Dream” and “Suspicious Minds.” Priscilla obviously picked a song the fans of Elvis loved.
