George RR Martin expresses his ‘wishes’ Before Game of Thrones ended, he had finished several volumes.
GEORGE RR MARTIN has spoken out about his A Song of Ice and Fire book series, admitting that he regrets allowing HBO’s Game of Thrones to take precedence over his books. The writer is now racing against the clock to finish his latest novel, Winds of Winter.
The events of the final few episodes of HBO’s epic show Game of Thrones were heavily criticized when it came to an end. Some fans were irritated by the conclusion of some significant stories. With some aid from the series’ originator, George RR Martin, the show’s writers, David Benioff and DB Weiss, scripted their own denouement, crafting a new version of events along the way. This situation has now been addressed by the author himself.
Fans have been waiting for Winds of Winter, the sixth book in the series, for nearly ten years, yet GRRM recently stated that he wishes he had written faster.
“Looking back, I wish I had stayed ahead of the books,” Martin told WTTW Chicago.
“My main concern was that when they started the [TV] series, I already had four books in print, and the fifth one came out right when the show started in 2011.”
A Dance with Dragons, the author’s fifth novel, was released in 2011 and was the author’s longest work to date, clocking in at over 1,300 pages.
“I had a five-book head start, and these are massive novels, as you know,” Martin recalled.
“I didn’t think they’d catch up to me, but they did.”
“They caught up with me and passed me,” he continued. It was a little odd because of that.”
“Now the performance was ahead of me, and the show was going in multiple directions,” Martin added.
“I’m still working on the book, but when it comes out, you’ll see my ending.”
The next book in the series, Winds of Winter, does not yet have a release date.
On his Not a Blog web page, the author has been open about his development.
“It’s going to be a large book, and I still have a long way to go,” he said last year when asked about the progress of the book.
Martin continued, “I have bad days that bring me down and good days that bring me up, but overall I am.” Brinkwire Summary News.”
