Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard just announced their third pregnancy.

Their pleasure at learning they were about to become parents again was short-lived, however, as Jill suffered a miscarriage. Now, the former Counting On star and mother of two is receiving help from her sisters, who have had similar challenges.

Jill and Derick both took to Instagram on Oct. 11 to deliver a sad update.

“We just learned out we’re having our third child.” We were ecstatic! “However, we started miscarrying a few days later,” Jill said, adding that the kid would be named River Bliss.

The couple’s reaction to the announcement of the positive pregnancy test was captured in a video she shared.

The couple wrote more about the pregnancy loss in a blog post on their family’s website, saying that their two kids, Israel, 6, and Samuel, 4, were enthusiastic about the prospect of another sibling joining the family.

Both Jinger and Joy-Anna have had pregnancies end in miscarriage. Jinger disclosed on an episode of her family’s now-canceled TLC reality show that she experienced a miscarriage in late 2019, shortly after announcing to her family that she was pregnant with kid No. 2. Joy-Anna had given birth to a stillborn daughter, Annabell Elise, at 20 weeks earlier that year.

“River Bliss was a much-loved place!” Joy-Anna made a remark. “Jill, I adore you. My heart aches for you. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this.
