Even as an adult, Michael Jackson was terrified of his father.
MICHAEL JACKSON had a tumultuous connection with his father, Joseph Jackson, and according to Oprah Winfrey, the singer was still terrified of him as an adult.
Michael Jackson and his brothers, the Jackson 5, were raised by their father, Joseph, who was a severe disciplinarian. The family patriarch would put in long hours with his sons in order for them to provide their best performances. Michael said that as a boy, he was scared of his father in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 1993.

“He was really strict, very severe, and quite stern,” Michael added.
“He could intimidate you with just a glance. Fearful of him, [I was] terrified.”
“There were occasions when he would come to see me and I would regurgitate [out of nerves],” he continued.
“He’s never heard me say this, I’m sorry!” the King of Pop added, a flirtatious grin to the camera. Please don’t be offended by me!”
During the same interview, Michael stated that “yes, he did [beat me]” when he was younger.
Years later, Oprah spoke openly about her discussion with Michael Jackson.
She praised the actor’s candor and demeanor throughout the interview, but she also mentioned that he still had strong feelings for his father to this day.

“So clearly you know that he still carried that dread and pain,” Oprah added.
“Observe his expression as he begins to speak about his father. His gaze changes.”
Later, Joseph denied “beating” his kids.

“I never beat him,” Joseph continued. You use a stick to bash someone.”
Michael’s mental health was a heated topic throughout the conversation with Oprah.
He also discussed his appearance and possible plastic surgery openly.
The actor admits to having a nose operation before dismissing the rest of the facial rumors as “fake.”
“I’ve never gotten my cheekbones done, my eyes done, or my lips done,” Michael explained.
“I try not to look in the mirror,” he continued.
