The famous dance show on ABC, Dancing With the Stars, first aired in 2005. There has been a never-ending procession of celebrities over the past decade and a half – Jerry Springer, Mario Lopez and Kim Kardashian West, to name a few – vying for the title of best dancing couple with talented dancers.
Appearing on DWTS launched careers (or resurrected tarnished ones) for some celebrities or helped rehabilitate the public image of a celebrity.
For other actors, though, bad results or uncomfortable pairings result in a bitter, public feud. You may add the DWTS presence of Kirstie Alley to that list.
In ‘Dancing With the Stars’ season 12, Kirstie Alley performed.

Kirstie Alley starred alongside Wendy Williams, Sugar Ray Leonard, Chris Jericho and Kendra Wilkinson on Season 12 of DWTS, to name only a few.
Alley is no stranger to television, having starred on The Last Don and David’s Mother’s own reality TV show, Kirstie Alley’s Big Life, and earned several Emmy Award nominations for TV roles.
In many DWTS season competitions, Alley was one of the highest-scoring dancers, including the cha-cha performances and the paso double performances. She ended up finishing second overall, but was eliminated in the 10-week competition’s eighth week.

Secrets behind the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ scenes
Alley made no secret of the fact that it was grueling to prepare for the dance competition.
She went on a strict diet and worked out five hours per day, according to Hollywood Life. But Alley and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy fought through some embarrassing DWTS performances despite all the preparation, including a major fall where Alley dropped on camera. Her husband took the blame, saying, “My thigh just gave way. I’m so sorry.” to The Hollywood Reporter.
It seemed like the leg of Chmerkovskiy gave way… the pair dropped to the ground and for a few seconds he twitched. It seemed like he couldn’t proceed, but the two were able to complete the dance.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chmerkovskiy seemed to be limping slightly afterward.
The audience shuddered and both Alley and Chmerkovskiy tried to recover from the drop, but Alley later went to Twitter to let slip the rage and frustration she felt from Chmerkovskiy’s encounter.
Kirstie Alley had a big feud with her dance partner
Dear Sir… There’s really no need to write “I wish you the best” after you raped me…. It’s rhetorical- Kirstie Alley (@kirstiealley) August 1, 2014 Feuding over ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Nick Viall and 9 other celebrities
Chmerkovskiy appeared on Andy Cohen’s show “Watch What Happens Live” shortly after Season 12 aired and indicated that he and Alley were not friends at all, even though they had been training together for weeks. According to US Weekly, “She stopped getting along with me,” he told Cohen, with the tabloid going on to explain that the two went from “from friends to enemies.”
Meanwhile, after Chmerkovskiy’s comments became public, a series of cryptic tweets from Alley seemed specifically directed at her dance partner. She suggested in one tweet that he was messing with her (though Alley used far more explicit language).
If the two are still battling is not known.
For a while, Alley hasn’t tweeted about DWTS, but that hasn’t stopped her from stirring up other Twitter controversies.
