‘DWTS’: Ryan Lochte has been mocked on the show by mockers

ABC debuted Dancing with the Stars in 2005, and the series has since become an immense success.

Around 15 famous celebrities are invited to compete for a large sum of money, the Mirrorball trophy, and the winning title, of course, every season of the reality television show.

Each celebrity is partnered during their dance journey with a professional dancer who directs and leads the celebrities.

Believe it or not, a British show called Strictly Come Dancing is simply based on Dancing with the Stars.

It is clear that the notion is a good one. Dancing with the Stars has welcomed quite a couple of famous faces and names to join the cast over the years. Just a few of them are Paula Deen, Corbin Bleu, and Kyle Massey.

When Ryan Lochte appeared on the show, fans and viewers of the famous show will probably recall season 23.

It was pretty hard to forget, after all.

Hey, who’s Ryan Lochte?

Due to his outstanding swimming career, Olympic fans probably know Lochte’s name. At a young age, Lochte, a native New Yorker, began swimming.

The family was moved to Florida by his father to take a job as a swimming coach. As a boy, it was Lochte’s father who ignited his passion.

Lochte was training for the Youth Olympics in middle school.

The swimmer wanted to attend the University of Florida when it came time for college, where he had the opportunity to train with Gregg Troy, a successful Olympic swimming coach.

Lochte qualified to realize his Olympic aspirations in 2004 after setting records during his studies. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Lochte won his first gold.

The outstanding swimmer would go on to win 12 medals in total, but unfortunately for Lochte, it wasn’t always smooth sailing or swimming.

A peek back at the controversial legacy of Ryan Lochte.

Lochte is also very well-known in the public eye, in addition to his impressive swimming numbers.

Lochte’s fans and followers got to see both sides of the famous swimmer between his brief stint on reality television, guest appearances on shows like 30 Rock, and his social media presence, and, sadly, not all of them were pleasant.

He found himself in some hot water and not swimming while Lochte was in Rio for the 2016 Olympics. Lochte claimed to the police that he was in a cab with his friends when an unmarked police car pulled them over and robbed them.

However, on August 25, 2016, Lochte was charged by Rio authorities for falsely reporting the crime.

Later, facts and records revealed that Lochte and his friend wanted to vandalize a gas station’s bathroom, resulting in a major altercation.

Luckily, a shortened sentence was given to Lochte, but sadly, those weren’t the only repercussions. In the United States, Lochte was granted a 10-month ban from competitive swimming.

‘DWTS’: Relive Jerry Springer’s humiliating performances

Lochte’s suspension, it goes without saying, was not perfect, but luckily for the swimmer, all hope was not lost. In season 23 of Dancing with the Stars, Lochte was invited to participate.

When it came to his credibility, this was a perfect chance for Lochte to do some damage control, but as it turned out, many people had their own agenda.

During the season opener, two men dressed in Anti-Lochte shirts stormed the stage to cause havoc and send a message.

Because of his recent run-in with the law in Rio, a group of people had banded together to protest his appearance at the show.

The former host of Dancing with the Stars, Tom Bergeron, turned quickly to a commercial while security forces secured the scene.

For his swimming career, Lochte is undoubtedly renowned, but his heckling on Dancing with the Stars is also pretty memorable.
