Devastation on Coronation Street as a popular resident dies off-screen in a heartbreaking exit?

In the coming weeks, CORONATION STREET will be rocked by a tragic tragedy, as one of the ITV soap’s most adored characters will die off-screen, with their neighbors coming together to remember their life.

Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) hasn’t appeared on Coronation Street since last year, when Ken Barlow (William Roache) stayed at the Still Waters retirement community with his fellow neighbour. The beloved character hasn’t been featured in recent storylines due to the pandemic and the actor who plays Norris, Malcolm, 81, taking a break from the ITV serial for health issues. The stalwart will, however, receive a classic Weatherfield send-off very soon, when viewers and inhabitants of the cobbles bid farewell to the no-nonsense figure as he dies off-screen.

Ken, Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska), Mary Taylor (Patti Clare), and Gail Platt (Helen Worth) are rumored to be attending the character’s burial.

Norris’ death will be a big disappointment to his neighbors, who had hoped to see him on his occasional visits to the cobblestones from Stillwaters.

According to sources, after recovering from a near-fatal heart attack in 2017, the actor informed his superiors that he would not be returning to the show on a regular basis.

Malcolm declared his retirement from acting in January, putting any future guest appearances on the show in jeopardy.

As a result, the writers have decided to end the character’s story, and viewers are likely to learn that he died off-screen through his pals.

After over three decades on the cobblestones, managers are promising a big send-off for the beloved character.

“Norris was a tremendous character for Coronation Street, and his funeral will be full with fun and laughter as well as tears,” one unnamed insider stated.

“Make no mistake: this will be a celebration of all of Norris’ best moments on the cobblestones.

“But, given his clout and the extent to which he was adored, it will be an emotional watch,” they told The Sun.

A spokesperson from the show has been contacted by this website for comment on the reports.
