Despite leaving the Netflix drama, the Duke of Hastings star hints a return to Bridgerton season 2.

After declining to appear in the Netflix drama’s impending follow-up, Regé-Jean Page of BRIDGERTON may consider returning to the series in the future.

After becoming Netflix’s most-watched series in December, three additional seasons of the blockbuster hit bodice ripper were swiftly ordered. Bridgerton has lost its top man for the time being, but Regé-Jean Page hasn’t ruled out a comeback.

Regé-Jean Page has intimated that he may be reconsidering his decision to leave Bridgerton after only one season as the Duke of Hastings.

When the series premiered last year, people were attracted by Simon Basset’s torrid love affair with high society debutante Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor).

In a new interview with GQ, the British actor didn’t rule out the notion of returning to Bridgerton at some point in the future.

“You know I couldn’t tell you!” he said at first, neither confirming nor denying.

When asked about the possibility of a cameo or surprise guest appearance, Jean-Page dodged the question, implying that a comeback could yet happen.

“Isn’t there something nice about being startled by something you didn’t expect?” he continued.

While it’s unlikely that the Duke will return for another season, the actor’s comments suggested that he might pay a brief visit to Regency London in the next three seasons.

Daphne and the Duke take a backseat to the action in Julia Quinn’s original volumes, as the series takes on a more episodic structure.

Fans of their first-season core relationship, however, were disappointed to find that Jean-Page would not be returning.

The fact that Phoebe Dynevor will be repeating her role as Daphne without her husband will almost surely complicate Season 2.

Thankfully, now that Jean-Page has hinted at a surprise, a cameo by the Duke looks much more likely.

Season two of Bridgerton isn’t anticipated to premiere until later this year or maybe early 2022, so fans will have to wait a while longer.

Meanwhile, the show’s breakout star has forced to explain the circumstances surrounding his abrupt departure.

“No, I respectfully exited,” he told GQ when asked if he was dismissed from the show.

“I didn’t want to put them in the embarrassing position of having to evict me.”

Jean-Page admitted as well. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
