Dennis was the alto saxophonist, flute, and percussionist for Kool & the Gang, as well as the master of ceremonies during their shows.
Dennis Thomas — known as”Dee Tee” — devoted husband, father, and co-founder of Kool & the Gang, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 70 in New Jersey, according to a statement on the band’s official Facebook page.
With a flare for stylish attire and headwear – as well as his laid-back demeanour – the multi-talented star was regarded as the band’s “cool cat.”
On July 4, he made his last engagement at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
In March of this year, he contributed to the induction of Kool & the Gang’s legendary hit Celebration into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry, Class of 2020.
