‘Cute’ The beach resort of Whitby in North Yorkshire has been recognized as one of the greatest – a ‘favorite place.’

Which? readers have picked one Victorian spa town in North Yorkshire as one of the greatest coastal towns in the UK.

With prominent destinations like the North York Moors National Park and the Heritage Coast, there’s much to do in North Yorkshire. One town has been singled out as one of the finest for Britons searching for a coastal resort in the center of it all to experience everything the area has to offer.

Saltburn-by-the-Sea, or just Saltburn, is a Victorian spa town with a plethora of attractions.

The beach at the beachfront resort is over a mile long and has Blue Flag certification.

“Dramatic vistas with a good surfing place and an amazing long beach stroll,” commented Tripadvisor member Zitatravel. Along the coast, this is my favorite area.

“Because of its size, you can find a quiet parking area along the shore.” It seems to go on forever, since you can walk from one end near the stores and parking to the other for well over an hour.

“This is a pretty wonderful vacation destination that isn’t as congested as some of the others along the coast.”

Saltburn Surf School is a great place for holidaymakers who want to go in the water and try their hand at some watersports.

The surf school has been teaching Britons how to surf since the 1980s and is the only Surfing Great Britain-approved school on the East Coast.

The Cliff Lift is well-known in Saltburn.

The world’s oldest water-balanced cliff lift transports guests from the town to the beach and serves as a separate attraction.

“The Saltburn cliff tramway has to be one of the nicest sites in Saltburn,” Freddiedoncaster remarked. The trams are steeped in history, but because to the pandemic, they are currently obsolete.

“Even so, it’s worth a visit and a read about the amazing journey these lovely trams have experienced through time!”

Saltburn also has the only Victorian pier on the north east coast, measuring 600 feet long.

“It was great to be able to stroll out onto the North Sea!” NickyMcVitty stated. It’s amazing that it’s still standing after all these years. “What a cute little pier!” Saltburn has plenty to see and see, including a miniature railway that dates back to 1947.

The railway is available in the afternoons from Good Friday to the end of September.
