Characters from Marvel are reimagined as iconic Disney villains in fan art.

The Disney company is home to a slew of franchises, including Marvel Comics’ colorful cast of superheroes. The comic characters were converted by Disney into what is now known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which enthralled audiences and established box office records. Disney’s heroes and villains have a devoted following as well. Magic can happen when you combine the two franchises with fan art. That’s what happened when an Instagram user posted a collection of Marvel heroes dressed as Disney villains.

Anastasia Ivanova, a self-taught artist, has released six pieces of fan art starring Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Captain America, Winter Soldier, Agatha Harkness, and Doctor Strange on Instagram. What’s particularly impressive about the artwork is how closely Ivanova depicts each figure to their Disney equivalent. The stars of the big screen and streaming series are well-known, but they nonetheless bring each Disney villain to life in a fresh, new way.

Maleficent is played by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. After each creation is posted, Ivanova even has a character scoreboard to frame it. Dr. Facilier, Hades, Captain Hook, Jafar, and Mother Gothel follow Scarlet WitchMaleficent. As Wanda Maximoff’s hex magic burns in the backdrop, Scarlet Witch wears Maleficent’s characteristic forehead horns and ravens.

Dr. Facilier of The Princess and the Frog renown is Sam Wilson, the former Falcon and now current Captain America of the MCU. In a purple-toned jacket and a black top hat, Anthony Mackie plays the voodoo doctor. With his left eye, he’s even winking at the crowd.

Captain Hook is played by Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson’s co-star in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Bucky’s Vibranium arm has been replaced with a hook for the titular captain, and both characters are missing limbs. Sebastian Stan is also growing his hair out again to resemble Captain Hook’s swashbuckling style.
