Carol Kirkwood’s problems Dan Walker is given a strict warning when he signs up for the BBC: ‘Be better off.’
On Tuesday, CAROL KIRKWOOD and her BBC Breakfast colleagues were ecstatic to learn that co-star Dan Walker will be competing in Strictly Come Dancing. Carol, on the other hand, had her own words of caution when Louise Minchin asked for advice.
Carol Kirkwood, Natasha Kaplinsky, and now Dan Walker, all from BBC Breakfast, have all signed up to compete on Strictly Come Dancing in recent years. With Dan as the newest celebrity addition to the BBC dance competition, everyone was overjoyed when he was revealed on Tuesday’s BBC Breakfast – though Louise Minchin joked that she was “annoyed” she hadn’t been informed previously. Carol grinned for her colleague, but she warned him not to seek advise from her.
Following his stint covering the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for the BBC last week, Dan has been gone from BBC Breakfast for the previous week.
Instead, Louise was joined in the studio by Jon Kay, and she had been under the notion that Dan was on vacation.
Louise and Carol had no idea that their co-star was covertly preparing for the difficult and exhilarating challenge of Strictly Come Dancing.
“What the hell is he up to?! When Dan was announced as a participant, Louise said, “I don’t believe it, Mr Walker!”
Dan apologized for keeping Louise in the dark, and she joked that she was “shocked and furious” that her long-time co-host had kept his appearance a secret.
Katie McGlynn, a fellow Strictly contender who was also featured on the same day, claimed she was taken aback: “Nobody told me this morning that someone was going to be unveiled” (else was joining).
“So, yeah, awesome, thanks for coming. “Another new dance partner,” the former Coronation Street actress added.
Louise afterwards asked Carol for her thoughts on Dan’s new employment, saying, “So another member of the BBC Breakfast family joins Strictly Come Dancing, and Carol can give Dan some advice?”
Carol, despite having performed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, swiftly advised Dan that she wasn’t the greatest person to turn to.
“My grades were terrible, Lou, twos and threes,” the weather reporter added, laughing.
“You’d be better off not accepting any of my advice, but what fantastic news.”
Despite Carol’s warnings, it appears that Dan will be. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
