Carol Kirkwood says on BBC Breakfast, “It’s time for me to have a big lie-in.”
CAROL KIRKWOOD has spoken out over her future on BBC Breakfast, saying the show will have to “get rid of me.”
Carol Kirkwood first appeared on our screens in 1998, when she joined BBC News as a weather presenter. Since since, the weather presenter has grown in popularity among the BBC Breakfast team’s viewers.
The meteorologist, who recently launched her debut novel Under A Greek Moon, has spoken out about her time on Breakfast and stated that she has no plans to resign.
The 59-year-old stated that she was honored to be a part of the team, but that she will know when it is time to leave.
Carol reduced her work week to four days several years ago, and she believes the rumors about her replacement began merely because she no longer works on Fridays.
In a new interview, the weather forecaster opened up about the future of her show.
“I’m not concerned about it. “It will happen one day,” Carol said.
“Either the [BBC] will say, ‘Thank you very much,’ or I’ll say, ‘I’ve had enough of the early beginnings, and it’s time for me to have a long lie-in,’” she said.
“However, I enjoy my work. It’s an incredible honor. Carol continued to Irish News, “I enjoy the weather.”
“It changes every day, and I get to go to great places, to events, to Wimbledon, to royal weddings with the masses outside,” she said. Carol also discussed her relationship with her unknown partner, whom she has decided to keep out of the spotlight.
Jimmy Kirkwood, her ex-husband, was her first husband.
