Caitriona Balfe of Outlander slams ‘crazies’ who called the church to verify her marriage.

CAITRIONA BALFE has slammed fans who have gone to great lengths to pry into her private life.

Caitriona Balfe, the star of Outlander, recently discussed “crazy” fans.

The actress, who is currently wowing audiences in the film Belfast, explained how she felt “protective” of her personal life as a result.

Caitriona Balfe is best known for her role as Claire Fraser in the hit television series Outlander.

However, the actress has admitted that her celebrity has had drawbacks.

One of them was the level of devotion some fans had for her and her co-star Sam Heughan.

In the hugely popular Starz series, Sam portrays Claire’s on-screen love interest Jamie Fraser.

The two have always been friends and have never been romantically involved.

Anthony McGill, a Scottish music manager, is married to Caitriona.

In a recent interview, the actress discussed how fans reacted after the couple tied the knot in 2019.

She talked about the internet’s circulating conspiracy theories that Sam was her child’s father.

She also told Vanity Fair on January 6 how the church where the wedding took place was contacted by someone.

They allegedly harassed the secretary in order to determine whether or not the marriage was legitimate.

“When you have a kid, you become extremely protective,” Caitriona explained.

“I don’t want those nutjobs – because that’s exactly what they are – talking about him.”

“It’s sad because you meet the sweetest people who are show fans and they’re super supportive and do the sweetest things,” she continued.

“And then there’s that little thing that tarnishes it.”

As a result, she has stated that she will not publicly name her son or post photos of him on the internet.

Her only Instagram post about him was in August 2021, when she announced his birth.

“I’ve been off socials for a while as I was taking some time to enjoy cooking up this little human,” she wrote alongside a cute photo of his hand.

“We are so grateful that this little soul chose us to be his parents.

“I’m already awestruck by him, and I can’t help but stare and wonder at all the possibilities of who he’ll become, where he’ll go, and what he’ll do on his life’s grand adventure.”

“Right now, he appears small and frail, and I’m constantly thinking about how grateful I am.”
