Brenda Blethyn, star of Vera, opens out about her desire to have children: ‘It did cross my mind.’

BRENDA BLETHYN stated that she has never had a “strong desire” to start a family.

Brenda Blethyn, 75, explained why she never had children, saying she never felt obligated to do so. In 2010, the Vera star married her second husband, Michael Mayhew, but she admitted that having children was never a “pressing ambition” of hers.

People often say, “I’ve just got to,” but that has never happened to me.

Brenda Blethyn is a British actress.

“You hear people say they just have to,” she added in a recent interview, “but that never happened to me.”

She explained, “We were getting on a little and that felt like the rational thing to do.”

“We weren’t planning on going anywhere, so it’s only a problem if one of us pops our clogs.”

“It wasn’t romantic!” she laughed.

“However, being married feels really wonderful — it’s just different.

“It was a gorgeous ceremony, and the only witnesses were Tim Spall and his family.”

“They took us out for the wedding meal at an East Dulwich pub,” she continued.

“He’s a sweetheart, and he and his family are among our closest friends.”

Brenda proceeded to rave over her other half, expressing her gratitude for having Michael as her husband.

She said, “He’s simply so talented and clever.”

“I’m thinking to myself, ‘What is he doing with me?'” We don’t have anything in common, after all.
