Bradley Walsh’s Pop Larkin transformation: The Chase host dons sideburns to play Pop Larkin.
For his role in the ITV adaptation of The Darling Buds of May, BRADLEY WALSH has been converted from The Chase presenter to Pop Larkin.
Bradley Walsh and Joanna Scanlan in their main roles in the revival of The Darling Buds of May have been revealed in a first look photo by ITV. Pop Larkin will be played by the Chase host, while Ma Larkin will be played by Joanna. The new series will premiere on ITV this autumn, according to the network.
Bradley is wearing a tweed three-piece suit and has sideburns in the photo.
A blue shirt and a yellow tie completed the Chase host’s ensemble.
Joanna is dressed in a pink floral dress with a matching sleeveless jacket and stands next to him.
The performers have been spotted filming the series in Faversham, Kent, in recent weeks.
Bridgerton’s Sabrina Bartlett, Tok Stephen, and Stephen Hagan are among the cast members.
The Larkins, a brand new version of H.E Bates’ classic The Darling Buds of May, will be released in the autumn.
The six-part series, written by screenwriter Simon Nye, will be set in the 1950s, just like the original.
The Larkins work on their modest plot of land in the Kent countryside and live a lovely family life.
The family, on the other hand, will struggle with the local government and their snooty neighbors.
Mariette, Pop and Ma’s daughter, and villager Cedric “Charley” Charlton are also featured in the series (Tok Stephen).
Charley is dispatched from the city to the village to check the Larkins’ tax troubles.
In the lead role of Pop, Bradley takes over from Sir David Jason.
David teased in a previous interview that he would love to have a cameo role in the upcoming drama.
“A new Darling Buds?” he exclaimed. Consider me completely on board.”
“Take care of yourself, Bradley. Fill your boots with water, son. By the way, if there’s a cameo role available…,” he said.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, who played Pop’s daughter Mariette, became a sensation in the first series.

Mariette’s job, according to the star of Only Fools and Horses, may have been the most difficult to fill.
“Of all the parts in that magnificent production, I would say Mariette will be the most difficult to fill,” David observed.
