Bradley Walsh of The Chase retaliates to Darragh Ennis’ age jibe, ‘Ridiculous!’
After chaser Darragh Ennis made a joke about his age on Monday night’s show, THE CHASE host Bradley Walsh was stumped.
In the most recent episode of The Chase, Chaser Darragh Ennis made Bradley Walsh laugh out loud. Following the ITV host’s boast that he could have secured a role in a popular high school film, the game show’s newest Chaser had his doubts. Darragh’s flippant taunt, on the other hand, perplexed Bradley.
On Monday evening, four new strangers formed a team to face ‘The Menace.’
The presenter and Chaser had some light banter over a question about the high school comedy musical Grease.
Unfortunately, the first contender, Steve, was unable to cope with the strain and was eliminated after failing to answer multiple questions in the first round.
Ria then won £7,000 by defeating Chaser Darragh Ennis, bringing the entire prize pool to £11,000.
Picture critic Barry Norman challenged the participant to name the film that stars the “oldest bunch of teenagers in the world.”
She properly recognized Grease as the correct answer, which became famous for including Stockard Channing, who was 33 at the time, among its cast of youthful characters.
The fact that the cast was “all in their 40s,” according to Ria, prompted the host to take aim at the iconic musical.
Bradley Walsh lambasted the ‘ludicrous’ casting in the iconic 1978 romance.
After stating he could have landed a part despite his 61 years, he joked that Frenchy (played by Didi Conn) utilized a zimmer frame.
“I could have gotten in it!” the TV star continued. It’s completely absurd.” Darragh Ennis wasn’t convinced, claiming that making the Chase and Doctor Who star look several decades younger would have been a difficult task.
“If you were in it, Brad, the make-up department would have been making money,” he said.
“Thanks,” Walsh said after a brief burst of laughter.
Ria and the audience burst out laughing at Darragh’s remark, which even halted the host’s transition to the next round of questions.
Walsh giggled again, attempting to compose himself, and added, “I have no idea what that means!”
The Chaser was reintroduced after the team’s strong 16-point performance in the group stage.
Darragh, on the other hand, chastised the squad for missing out on a number of questions that may have given them a significant advantage.
