Biden’s travel ban incites outrage in the United Kingdom; when will Brits be able to visit America? The most recent information.
Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, travel between the United States and the United Kingdom has been restricted. Is it possible to travel to the United States from the United Kingdom?
Following the UK’s extraordinary vaccination rollout and the commencement of the summer vacation season, transatlantic travel hopes have been high in recent weeks. Despite this, many countries have elected to retain the roughly 18-month-old travel restrictions in place.
One of these is the United States, which has so far refused to compromise on its prohibitions.
The majority of UK residents are still subject to a travel ban, with US President Joe Biden announcing the prolongation of travel restrictions.
Permanent US residents, US citizens, selected close family members, and diplomats are among those who are exempt.
“Given where we are today with the Delta variant,” a White House official told Reuters on Monday, “the United States will continue existing travel restrictions at this point.”
The Biden administration has stated that the increase in COVID-19 instances is the reason for the restrictions not being lifted.
The Delta form, first discovered in India earlier this year, now accounts for 80 percent of all cases in the United States, according to Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The CDC issued the highest travel warning level for Britain on July 20, indicating that Americans should not travel there unless there are extraordinary reasons.
All travelers coming into the United States from anywhere in the world must show documentation of a negative Covid test, PCR, or antigen taken within 72 hours of departure.
Unvaccinated visitors must also quarantine for at least seven days after arriving in the United States, and must take a Covid test between days three and five.
Those who have been vaccinated with an FDA-approved vaccine, on the other hand, are not required to quarantine.
Mr Biden’s decision has been criticized by the UK and the EU, with both demanding for reciprocity.
Europeans are currently barred from entering the United States, while Americans with proof of vaccination or a negative test can go to Europe.
Brits are also barred from entering the US, but properly vaccinated Americans will be allowed to enter the UK without having to go through quarantine beginning August 2.
After putting travel restrictions on China in January 2020, the US has been closed to the bulk of UK visitors since March 2020.
