Ben Miller teases a return for DI Richard Poole in Death in Paradise.

Ben Miller, who played DI Richard Poole in the BBC cop thriller DEATH IN PARADISE, has hinted that he would return to the show.

In Death in Paradise, Ben Miller plays the first-ever detective. DI Richard Poole was played by the actor from season one to the beginning of season three, when he was killed off. The detective was assassinated with an ice pick during a university reunion, and it fell to his predecessor, DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), to solve the case.

Despite being killed off, Ben appeared in a one-off special for the BBC drama’s tenth anniversary.

After her mother Catherine Bordey (Elizabeth Bourgine) was attacked, Camille Bordey (Sara Martins) made a brief return to the island.

Richard sat next to her on the beach, his customary suit and briefcase in hand, as she reflected on what had happened to her mother.

He was, of course, a figment of Camille’s imagination, ready to offer counsel and help her feel better about the situation.

Ben’s character may be dead, but if BBC executives were able to bring him back once, they could do so again.

“I don’t know, you just never know whether I could come back from the dead,” the actor teased, according to Digital Spy.

“I was absolutely slain with a good huge ice pick in the chest in Death in Paradise. However, you never know what will happen.”

The BBC drama’s tenth series ended on a sad note, with Sergeant JP Hooper (Tobi Bakare) departing Saint Marie.

Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) offered the police officer a job training young policemen on a neighboring island, which he accepted.

JP agreed, and he, his wife Rosey Hooper (Fola Evans-Akingbola), and their newborn twins moved away from Saint Marie.

JP’s replacement, Sergeant Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson), will join the crew at Honoré Police Station, and it didn’t take the BBC long to announce her.

Shantol expressed her delight at being a part of the cast, saying, “I’m really happy for this fantastic opportunity to join the cast of this fun-filled, engaging series.”

“I used to watch Death in Paradise with my dad in Jamaica when it first started years ago, and now to be in the show, knowing that he’ll be.”Brinkwire Summary News,” she continued.
