Simply make a thick paste with water and baking soda and apply it to the metal.
If the rusty spots aren’t completely coated with the paste, this procedure won’t work.
Allow for an hour for the paste to soak into the object.
Scrub the metal with steel wool, a wire brush, or an extremely abrasive sponge to remove the paste.
Rinse the paste with water and let it dry completely.
Give it another shot if it didn’t turn out as well as you had hoped the first time.
