As the SNP is warned they do not have a mandate, Nicola Sturgeon’s indyref2 strategy is exposed.

NEW Despite the first minister’s insistence that a mandate is “now assured,” the Scottish Lib Dems leader argued that Nicola Sturgeon does not have a mandate for a second independence referendum.

Alex Cole-Hamilton, the leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, has revealed that Nicola Sturgeon lacks a mandate for a second independence referendum, claiming that people voted for the SNP because they didn’t want to “change horses in the middle of a national crisis.”

Alex Cole-Hamilton, speaking to ITV Border RB, said: “There isn’t a mandate for a second independence vote.”

“And I say that with caution because, halfway through the campaign, Nicola changed her tune and asked, ‘Who do you want us to leave to guide us through the pandemic?’

“People didn’t vote for the SNP in huge numbers because they wanted independence or a referendum; they just didn’t want to switch horses in the middle of a national crisis,” he continued.

Nicola Sturgeon insists she has a “undeniable” mandate for a second referendum on Scottish independence.

Last month, the SNP reached an agreement with the Scottish Greens in order to hold a second independence vote.

MSPs accepted Scottish Greens co-leaders Patrick Harvie and Lorna Slater as junior ministers on Tuesday, declaring this power-sharing agreement “ground-breaking.”

The mandate for another referendum is now “solid,” according to Scotland’s first minister, who spoke from Holyrood yesterday, claiming that the SNP and Greens command 72 of the 129 seats in the Scottish Parliament.

The SNP-Green partnership, on the other hand, has been accused by Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross of having the primary goal of removing Scotland from the United Kingdom.

He warned against a second independence referendum that would be “divisive.”

“Trying to say this isn’t a coalition is a farce, even by SNP standards.”

Ms. Sturgeon stressed, however, that the decisions that will shape our culture, economy, and place in the world must be made democratically. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
