Strictly partner Mel Giedroyc addresses his health concerns as Neil Jones reacts to surgery news.

NEIL JONES has opened up about his health problems, and his new dance partner Mel Giedroyc has revealed she has the same problem.

Neil Jones, 39, was joined by his dance partner Mel Giedroyc, 53, after it was revealed that she would be the third contestant confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

The pair spoke with Rylan Clark, host of Strictly: It Takes Two, about their exciting debut.

Mel, on the other hand, admitted she was hesitant to dance after hearing about the comedian’s health issues.

It comes after the Strictly host revealed Mel is a huge fan of the show.

“I know you can’t say too much,” Rylan said, “but what are you afraid of right now?”

“There are a few things,” Mel said.

I’m going to have to be honest with you.

“I’m concerned about my bunions, hernia, pelvic floor, and going completely numb.”

Mel’s candor as he spoke openly about his own health caught Neil off guard.

“Do you have a hernia?” the professional dancer inquired.

“Yes,” she said.

“Those are my primary concerns.”

As he high-fived the TV host, the Strictly professional raised his hand in the air.

“I have one as well,” Neil confirmed.

“I have a hernia,” says the patient.

“Wow,” Rylan said, clapping.

“They’re hernia pals.”

Mel then inquired as to whether the professional dancer had had his hernia surgically removed.

Neil stated that he is still afflicted.

Mel added, “I’ve had four operations.”

“We’re turning into Casualty guys,” Rylan joked, perplexed.

“For Christmas, let’s keep it light.”

A hernia occurs when an internal part of the body pushes through a weakness in the muscle or surrounding tissue wall, and it most commonly occurs between the chest and hips.

According to the NHS, it often causes no or very few symptoms, though you may notice a swelling or lump in your tummy (abdomen) or groin.

Meanwhile, Mel has been confirmed as the third celebrity contestant for the BBC show’s Christmas special.

The British comedian will compete alongside Jay Blades and Fred Sirieux for the coveted Glitterball Trophy.
