Anthony Anderson, a former cast member of ‘Law and Order,’ is set to reprise his role in the much-anticipated revival.
Anthony Anderson is set to return to the Law and Order revival, according to NBC Variety.
Anderson will return as Detective Kevin Bernard.
Anderson is said to have signed a one-season deal with the show.
He first appeared on Law andamp; Order in 2008, a few years before the show was cancelled.
Hugh Dancy will also be joining the franchise revival as an assistant district attorney, according to Variety.
It was announced in late September that the Dick Wolf classic would be revived.
Since 2010, it has been off the air.
The first season of Law and Order aired in 1990, and it paved the way for several spinoffs, including Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
At the time of the announcement, Wolf Entertainment issued a press release stating that the new season will pick up where the previous season left off in 2010.
“There are very few things in life that are literally dreams come true,” said series creator Dick Wolf of the project.
Wolf and Rick Eid, who will also serve as showrunner and head writer, will executive produce the Law and Order revival.
More casting news will be released in the near future.
Fans can expect to see Andreson back in action in the near future.
Because his series, black-ish, is set to end with Season 8, which will premiere in January, the actor will have more time to devote to Law and Order.
Anderson is an executive producer as well as a star in the show.
Kenya Barris, the creator of black-ish, announced in May 2021 that the ABC sitcom would be cancelled after eight seasons.
“It is both exciting and bittersweet to share that black-ish has been RENEWED by ABC for it’s EIGHTH… and FINAL SEASON,” Barris wrote on Instagram.
“It’s rare these days to get to decide when your show ends, and we’re grateful, along with ABC, to be able to make this final season exactly what we’d hoped for – and to do it with the entire and AMAZINGLY STELLAR cast returning to close out this chapter with us the right way!”
