Annie Lennon: A Cornucopia for Christmas

Island Island

The re-release by pop star and vocal political activist Annie Lennox of her 2010 album, A Christmas Cornucopia, feels a little uninspired.

On the new record, which has been remastered, the brightest moment comes from a previously unheard of track.

“the dying of our planet.”the dying of our planet.

A change of pace from some of her cheesier reinterpretations of holiday classics is offered by the album.

However, the remainder of the album sounds much less imaginative, showing Lennox interpreting popular Christmas carols and songs without bringing into the recordings much of her own personality.

In particular, her interpretation of The First Noel and Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem sounds bland and repetitive.

A much more interesting listen to less well-known holiday songs such as Il Est Ne Le Divin Enfant and Lullay Lullay, but this album does not come close to matching the popularity of some of the more original releases from Lennox.
