Andy Murray discusses his time away from his wife, revealing, “Things going on outside from the court.”
ANDY MURRAY has opened up about his six-year marriage to Kim Sears when he needs to travel for training, admitting that it “makes a tremendous difference” to his performance.
Andy Murray, 34, has claimed that his wife Kim Murray, 33, is important in ensuring that he performs at his best during tournaments, especially after sustaining a hip injury in July of this year. The tennis star says that there have been times when he “did not want” to continue playing, but his supportive spouse guarantees that he stays motivated and joyfully allows him room to focus on his training.
Andy stated in October of this year, “There have been a lot of instances in the last two years where I have stopped.”
“I said to myself, ‘I don’t want to do this anymore.'” But Kim, she was always trying to keep me going, and she was always glad for me to go and train and go away and stuff,” he told the Daily Mail.
Kim is “extremely understanding,” according to the former Wimbledon champion, who needs to focus exclusively on getting ready for tournaments and can’t let family issues get in the way.
“It’s been like that for the majority of my career, just really understanding of everything I’ve done, like going away for training blocks in Miami after a really difficult year and things like that,” he continued.
“It may not seem like much, but we don’t get to see each other very often, and it makes a tremendous difference when you don’t have any drama in your personal life or a lot of things going on away from the court.
“She’s brilliant like that; she’s allowed me to follow my job and has been incredibly supportive of me doing so, so I’ve been extremely fortunate.
“I think my family is just relieved to see me back on the court and pain-free. It’s been an incredible few months.”
Andy and Kim first met as youngsters in tennis circles, allegedly at a US Open party.
Nigel Sears, the 33-year-father, old’s is a former head of women’s tennis at the Lawn Tennis Association.
In July 2013, Kim stood behind Andy when he was featured in the “Brinkwire Summary News.”
