Wayne Rooney was in no mood to chat to talkSPORT presenter Jim White following Derby’s defeat to Peterborough in August due to the comments of his radio colleague Simon Jordan

Wayne Rooney has had a turbulent time since taking over as Derby boss last year – first saving them from relegation by a single point before before being handed a 12-point deduction this season.

With Derby back in the positive points following three wins and five draws from their 11 matches, Manchester United icon Rooney is fully focused on making his time at the club a success.

But he has apparently taken issue with comments by former Crystal Palace owner and chairman Simon Jordan

.Jim White said on TalkSport on Wednesday: “He wants to be taken seriously in the aspirations he has as a coach, you and I both know.

“I went to Peterborough vs Derby not long ago and at the end of it Wayne didn’t fancy talking to me because of my involvement with you He didn’t like some of the things you had said about him.”

Jordan had said of England’s record goalscorer in June: “You get the bounce, it’s traditional. A new guy goes in and lifts the dressing room. Then comes the business end – cometh the hour, cometh the man – and he stank the place out.

“He takes seven points from 12 games at the business end of the season.

“You should perhaps go away and spend more time on what should have done and what you could do rather than trying to put a veneer across what is a horlicks of a job.

“They are lucky to have gotten away with it. They didn’t achieve anything, they got away with it.”

Rooney seems to have heard the comments of Jordan, which took place on the show presented by White, and decided not to speak to either of them.

Jordan was hard-hitting in his response, and slammed the player-turned manager.

Jordan replied: “It’s a sweeping statement to say I want to be judged by who I am not what I’ve done, I want to be known by who I am not what I’ve done.

“Well they’re inextricably indexed because if you hadn’t kicked a ball round no one would have the slightest interest in you.”

Brinkwire Sport has approached Rooney’s representatives for a response.
