After Neville Parker’s rejection, is Florence Cassell being replaced as a detective in Death in Paradise?

After Florence Cassell turned down Neville Parker’s awkward romance proposal, DEATH IN PARADISE newcomer Noami Thomas, played by Shantol Jackson, could end up replacing her as detective.

Fans of Death in Paradise were left heartbroken after Florence Cassell (played by Josephine Jobert) turned down Neville Parker’s (Ralf Little) romantic proposal on Friday night’s BBC episode.

After Neville asked Florence out on a date during the Christmas special, viewers were left wondering if the two detectives would develop a romantic relationship.

Florence did tell Neville that she loved him, but only as a friend, during Friday night’s episode.

When Catherine (Elizabeth Bourgine) added rum to his coke to help him relax his nerves during a pub quiz, Neville became a little tipsy.

He did, however, admit that the alcohol didn’t mix well with the antihistamines he’d been taking.

When Florence returned with Neville to the shack, Neville finally admitted how he felt.

“You’ve been so kind to me, Florence, ever since I’ve been here,” Neville admitted.

“You’re so lovely,” he added.

The next day, Neville apologised to his colleague for expressing his emotions.

He began, “I can only apologise for my behavior last night.”

“It’s my fault,” Florence responded, “I shouldn’t have given you the rum.”

“You were only trying to help,” he continued, “but I can’t help but think I may have overshared.”

“I apologize,” he said, before Florence reassured him, “Sir, you have nothing to apologize for.”

A phone call from the police station cut short the moment.

Florence, on the other hand, made her feelings towards Neville very clear later on.

Florence explained, “I was thrown by what you said.”

“It reminded me of how much I value you as a friend and how much I care about you.”

“I love you as a friend and as someone I want to have in my life at all times,” she continued.

“But no more than that,” Neville cried.

As the episode came to a close, Naomi confessed to Marlon that she is willing to go to any length to become a police officer.

Florence was also unsure how Neville’s feelings would affect their friendship.

Florence inquired, “Are we going to be ok?”

Neville responded awkwardly, “Yeah.”

Is it possible, however, that Florence will succumb to the pressures and end her life?

“News from the Brinkwire.”
