After Netflix executives struggled to find a suitable replacement for Prince Andrew, the role was finally cast.
After reports that producers were having trouble finding someone to play Prince Andrew for season five of The Crown, the role has finally been replaced.
Filming on the famous Netflix drama is already beginning, with actor James Murray set to play Prince Andrew, according to reports. In the upcoming season of The Crown, the 46-year-old actor will take up the position from Tom Bryne, who played it in season four.
For the past 23 years, James has been a popular actor, having a prominent role as Frank Davis in It’s Alive in 2008.
In addition, the actor is well-known for his appearance in the television drama series Cutting It.
In 2007, the Manchester actor married his Cutting It co-star Sarah Parish, who gave birth to a daughter a year later but died of a congenital heart condition a year later.
James will co-star alongside some notable names in the fifth season of The Crown, including Imelda Staunton (who will play Queen Elizabeth II), Claudia Harrison, and others (playing Princess Anne).
It was reported earlier this year that Netflix was having trouble casting the part of Prince Andrew for the final two seasons.
“Prince Andrew is one of the most disliked members of the royal family, and want tobe stars aren’t exactly queuing up to play him,” a casting source told The Sun.
“It’s not the most glamorous job and is unlikely to launch a Hollywood career,” the source continued, “but it could work for a great scene-stealer character artist.”
The Crown’s fifth season will focus on the aftermath of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage breakdown.
The official Twitter account for The Crown offered a first glimpse at Imelda Staunton as the Queen to get fans excited for the new series.
“An early sight of our new Queen Elizabeth II, Imelda Staunton,” the description read. The Harry Potter actress is replacing Olivia Colman as the cast is replaced for the second time.
Fans were eager to respond to Imelda’s first appearance as the Queen.
“This concurrently made me realise that the show is coming to an end… I’m not ready for this,” one fan wrote. “I haven’t moved on from Claire Foy yet,” another added, adding a sad face emoji.
