After Manchester United’s loss, David de Gea was caught on camera punching the tunnel as he stormed off the pitch.
David de Gea’s saves kept Manchester United in the game until an error by the goalkeeper allowed Manchester City to score their second goal in a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford, leaving the Spaniard furious at full-time.
After Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City, goalkeeper David de Gea was seen punching the tunnel furiously.
After the full-time whistle, the 30-year-old made his way to the dressing room, where he was caught on camera attempting to punch the famous red Old Trafford tunnel.
De Gea, despite his frustrations, was easily Man United’s best player on the field, as he kept City at bay with several outstanding saves while his defenders were run ragged.
While trailing by a goal in the first half, the Spaniard came to the rescue several times, most notably by saving a close-range effort by Gabriel Jesus that looked destined for the net.
But, after some dreadful defending by Luke Shaw, he succumbed to the pressure and conceded a poor goal on the stroke of halftime.
Bernardo Silva was able to get on the end of a whipped Joao Cancelo cross because Shaw failed to deal with it.
De Gea seemed perplexed by the winger’s ability to reach the overcooked cross and simply let the ball hit him in the arm and go in.
Let us know in the comments section if you believe De Gea is still a world-class goalkeeper.
The Red Devils’ defensive woes continued, with just one clean sheet in their last 13 games across all competitions.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is under pressure after a 5-0 home loss to Liverpool last month prompted calls for his dismissal, will be even more enraged.
The Norwegian’s task will only become more difficult over the next month, with games against Villarreal, Chelsea, and an in-form Arsenal.
