After Louise’s announcement, Dan Walker bids a fond farewell to a BBC colleague.
DAN WALKER has reacted to the news that Rory Cellan-Jones will be leaving the BBC after 40 years.
Dan Walker, the presenter of BBC Breakfast, wished Rory Cellan-Jones, 63, “all the best” in the future after the technology correspondent announced his departure from the corporation. The 44-year-old described his coworker as a “really wonderful bloke.”
“Some personal news… in late October, I shall be leaving the BBC,” Rory tweeted.
“I’ve had a fantastic experience working with amazing people, but it’s time to move on after 40 years.
“Working with people as amazing as @jatusmaximus and the brilliant BBC tech team is what I shall miss the most, and I’m especially proud of Tech Tent, the radio show we launched in 2014. But we must go on.”
He went on to remark that his position was “the best job possible.”

“I wish you all the best for the future Rory,” Dan tweeted in response to his message.
“I admire your analysis and wisdom, but above all, you’re a genuinely nice guy. “Be careful.”
Other colleagues have also contacted the technology reporter with messages.
“We’ll miss you on air of course, and particularly you walking through our Wittertainment studio (back when we did that sort of thing),” said Simon Mayo, who left the BBC earlier this year.
“Best of luck, Rory,” Murad Ahmed wrote. It’s always a pleasure to hang out with you.”
Dan’s colleague Louise Minchin announced her departure from BBC Breakfast after 20 years in June.
The mother-of-two advised viewers to stop setting their alarm clocks for 3.40 a.m. and instead concentrate on other things.
“I have loved it and I will miss you all,” she stated, thanking everyone who has watched and supported her.

Dan noted after she made her news, “This seems like a break-up.”

“Without her on the sofa, my life would be a lot worse; she is the best.”
