After it “hurt her hand,” Queen Letizia never wears her magnificent £20,000 engagement ring.
In 2004, QUEEN LETIZIA married King Felipe VI at the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid. He proposed with a beautiful ring a year prior, which the royal hasn’t worn since. Why is it that Queen Letizia refuses to wear the lovely jewel?
In 2003, Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI married. He gave her a beautiful diamond ring, but she never wears it because she is a mother of two. What is the reason for this?
The engagement ring of Queen Letizia is made of white gold and has 16 baguette-cut diamonds.
The ring is by Suárez, a Spanish jewelry manufacturer, and it has a lovely ‘eternity design’ despite the lack of a central stone.
The engagement ring has now been valued at £20,000.
Queen Letizia, on the other hand, has never been spotted wearing the ring since their wedding day. But what is the cause for this?
For the same reason she never wears her wedding band, the Queen of Spain has apparently chosen to quit wearing her engagement ring.
She later explained it, stating that “the constant handshakes at the receptions had damaged her hand.”
However, there is another story behind the mystery of the engagement ring – one that the Spanish royal family has never confirmed.
In a royal biography, journalists Esteban Urreiztieta and Eduardo Inda revealed that King Felipe chose the engagement ring but had it collected by his brother-in-law, Iaki Urdangarin.
Iaki Urdangarin went to Suarez in Barcelona to pay for it, which cost 3,000 euros at the time.
Journalists, on the other hand, claimed he bought the ring with his Nóos business credit card.
His company Nóos is the reason why the King of Spain’s brother-in-law is currently imprisoned.
He has been in prison since 2018 after a Spanish court found him guilty of tax fraud, embezzlement, and influence peddling.
Although the Spanish royal palace has never verified this, journalists Esteban and Inda believe it is possible that this is why “Queen Letizia opted to return the ring to the jeweller.”
Instead, she favors her Karen Hallam gold-plated ring, which is one of her favorites.
She usually wears it on her index finger, but she also wears it on her left ring finger.
Many royals, probably for the same reason, do not wear their engagement or wedding bands, therefore this is a frequent practice.
For example, Prince William seldom wears his wedding ring.
Prince Andrew, on the other hand, never wore his. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
