Sir Elton John became close friends with Ant McPartlin and backed the I’m A Celebrity…

Elton John recently invited Ant and Dec to a football match, and they recently caught up.

After becoming friends, Sir Elton John assisted Ant McPartlin, co-host of I’m A Celebrity, in staying sober.

Ant, 45, a football fanatic, and Declan Donnelly, 46, a TV winger, were VIP guests of the pop legend when their beloved Newcastle United played Watford in September.

And Elton called Ant on a regular basis to offer “fatherly advice” after his drunk-driving car accident in 2018.

“Elton invited Ant and Dec to the game,” a source revealed.

“His VIP seats were allocated to them.”

He has been a huge supporter of Ant and has given him advice on how to deal with addiction.

Elton has obviously been sober for a long time and is considerably older than Ant, so he can provide fatherly advice.

He understands how difficult it can be to break the habit.”

The I’m A Celeb hosts watched Newcastle come back from a goal down to earn a point, and posed for pictures with Watford legend Luther Blissett, 63.

Elton’s assistance was reportedly appreciated by Ant.

Anne-Marie Corbett, 44, with whom he married in August, is also a teetotaler.

It’s not the first time Elton, 74, has aided a sober person.

He also contacted Robbie Williams, 47, and checked in with Ed Sheeran, 30, who was in lockdown.

Elton celebrated 30 years of sobriety in 2020, sharing his concerns about where he would be if he hadn’t sought help.

“I’d be dead if I hadn’t finally taken the big step of asking for help 30 years ago,” he wrote at the time.

“I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who has inspired and supported me along the way.”

Along with the tweet, he posted a series of photos, including cards, flowers, and chips from his sons, program friends, his husband, and others.

Since his sobriety in 1990, Elton has been candid about his drug and alcohol abuse.
