Jada Pinkett Smith is part of what can only be considered the “power family.” of Hollywood. She is extremely popular, married to another major star, Will Smith, and also in the spotlight are her daughters, Jaden and Willow Smith.
Her life is very different, at first sight, from that of an ordinary American family.
They have been made millionaires by their success in the film industry, and their name recognition is unmatched, even by many other celebrities.
As unlike the typical American family, the family has more in common than one would expect. Will and Jada have had to balance their busy careers with raising their kids, as many others. Jaden and Willow are now grown-ups, but it’s obvious that the Smith parents have had their share of work and family juggling experiences.
Jada Pinkett Smith had some problems getting kids and becoming a prominent actress.
She has learned some lessons about how to balance it all from her experiences and shared some valuable tips at Red Talk Table for working moms.
The Career of Jada Pinkett Smith
As a TV star, Jada Pinkett Smith came to public attention in the 1990s. Many of her early roles were one-episode roles in series like True Colors and Doogie Howser, M.D., but she landed a regular role in The Cosby Show spin-off A Different Universe after just a year of professional acting.
This opportunity helped her gain further success, and in a film, Menace II Society, she had her first starring role in 1993. Significant critics, including Roger Ebert, praised her acting success, and she soon became a major name in Hollywood.

In 2002, while continuing to play such important roles as Niobe in the Matrix episodes, Gloria in Madagascar and the eponymous Christina Hawthorne in the television series Hawthorne, she founded a heavy metal band named Wicked Wisdom. She recently launched her own talk show, Red Table Talk, to address problems from an intergenerational viewpoint with her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and daughter, Willow.

Ironically, when Jada lost the role of Will’s girlfriend in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Jada and Will began their relationship. But because they married in 1997 and welcomed their first child, Jaden, a year later, the two must have hit it off. They appeared together in the Muhammad Ali biopic, Ali, for the first time in 2001.
The following year, they had Willow, their daughter.

Jada shared thoughts on what it’s like to be a working mom on Red Table Chat. One especially encouraging piece of advice she gave to working moms like her is that not every family is the same – there is no one way to raise children, and what’s best is not always understood by those on the outside.
For every woman, it is important to remember that we have the right to find out what works for us individually. If everyone else is doing, we don’t have to do. Our family would be good if we are good.
While Jada spoke of a location where at the same time she managed her career and family goals, the advice can be extended to all facets of life.
