According to Emmerdale, Gabby Thomas fled the village because she was fighting for custody of her pregnant child.

After overhearing Kim Tate planning for custody of her unborn child, EMMERDALE’S Gabby Thomas may be forced to quit the town with Grandmother Diane Sugden – but will she be able to leave before it’s too late?

Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) of Emmerdale may devise a plan to depart the hamlet next week, fearful that Kim Tate (Claire King) is preparing to kidnap her child. Kim has grown persuaded that Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) is still alive after his apparent death, but she continues to wreak havoc this week when she offers to Gabby that she give up all parental rights to the kid. Will Gabby accept Kim’s offer or flee with her child? Kim faced Gabby with an unusual suggestion in tonight’s episode: “There’s something I need to say, this may come out as a bit callous.” “Well, I’m sure I can take that,” Gabby said, intrigued. Kim added, “I’ve been thinking, and well, we don’t know where Jamie is.”

“And him being in that accident has made me realize how unpredictably life can be,” she stated, but Gabby was perplexed, so she responded, “How is that insensitive?”

“Well,” Kim continued, “if something were to happen to you, your baby would be in limbo, and you’d have a slew of grandparents vying for your attention.”

“There’s no doubt that we’d all adore that child, but the question is who would be best suited to care for him, and I’m the one with the means to do it.”

“So, what I’m proposing is that I have my solicitor draft you a will,” Gabby cried, surprised. “A will?! “At my age?” you might wonder. “It would just be for the kid, granting me parental rights if the worst happened,” Kim reassured her, “so what do you think?” Gabby overheard Kim on the phone later that day saying, “Right well, get the will drawn up and given to me, and then Gabby can sign it, yes, of course, she’s consented.”

“Now, in terms of Millie Tate (Willow Bell), we’ve gone through all of this, and I don’t care what you think; I just want it done.”

“Brinkwire Summary News” says, “Whatever legal trick you have in that book of yours, you make sure I get full custody, not the ethics of it.”
