A Major New Villain’s Origin is Revealed in Star Wars.

Marchion Ro, the leader (or “Eye”) of the savage space pirate group The Nihil, who have been the central villains of the new Star Wars: The High Republic line, has been revealed as the origin of one of the franchise’s major new villains.

Marchion Ro’s chess-like machinations have been a major focus of The High Republic; the novels and comics featuring Marchion have given the pirate leader an unusual amount of established depth for a Star Wars villain; however, The High Republic has been somewhat withholding when it comes to Marchion Ro’s origin and backstory – that is, until the release of Marvel’s new Star Wars: The High Republic: Eye of the Storm comic miniseries!

SPOILERS follow for Star Wars: The High Republic: Eye of the Storm!

That strife wore the Evereni down even more – to the point where their family structures eroded and broke, as one basic philosophy came to rule them: self-care is the greatest form of caring.

When their planet failed, the Evereni spread across the galaxy, using and/or slaughtering anyone who (temporarily) shared their goals.

Marchion Ro was born in this harsh world’s “nurturing” embrace.

Marchion Ro was forged by his father and mother to become the ultimate “knife’s edge” of the Evereni’s brutal survivalist beliefs, as we learn in greater detail.

A weapon forged by his parents to destroy the Jedi.

Marchion witnessed his father murder their mother over the Nihil’s leadership and direction, and when Marchion’s father Asgar was assassinated by one of his own Tempest Runners, Marchion was present to brutally finish him off.

More intriguingly, the medium of the Eye of the Storm (hashtag)1 comic book offers…
