A fan of Mrs Hinch provides a ‘amazing’ bicarbonate of soda cleaning trick for removing fridge odors.

Due to spilt food, FRIDGES can produce scents that are difficult to remove. One Mrs Hinch fan has provided a tip for getting rid of odors with bicarbonate of soda.

Fridges should be deep cleaned every three to four months and wiped down on a regular basis. Spilled foods and out-of-date things, on the other hand, can produce foul odors that can spread throughout the house.

“My fridge smells quite musty, it’s an under the counter one but it only has milk in it most of the time,” one woman wrote on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page.

“I’ve been in the hospital for a long time…We got it secondhand, but it was fairly new, a decent brand, and it smelled bad.

“Does anyone have any suggestions?

” The post drew cleaning enthusiasts who suggested a range of tricks for the woman to try to get rid of the odor.

“Could you try leaving half a lemon in it after you scrub it?” one woman suggested.

“Clean it and leave the door open for a few hours; it could be that it was switched off for a time after you acquired it.” Lemons are a natural cleaner that can absorb bad odors.

Although it is advisable to change the sliced lemon every couple of days, the smell of lemons will help to leave a pleasant smell in the fridge.

Another enthusiast came up with a bicarbonate of soda hack, which drew a lot of attention from the rest of the group.

“Get a box of bicarbonate of soda and open it,” it said.

“Leave it in there, and it’ll absorb the odors. You can also buy odour-absorbing items on Amazon. Bicarbonate of soda is an excellent yet gentle abrasive cleanser that is also a terrific natural deodorizer. I have some for shoes and they are amazing.”

“It’s the only thing I use to eliminate stench from my kitchen, you can also use it in cupboards where you may store loose foods, like onions, it’s amazing,” said another. “Yes, use some bicarb, it will get to work within hours and it also lasts a very long time,” remarked a third.

Furthermore, most stores sell it for a low price. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
