Nvidia releases 416.34 WHQL driver, optimizing Black Ops 4, SOULCALIBUR VI, and GRIP

It’s been two weeks since the last WHQL-certified driver release from Nvidia, if we don’t count the odd Windows 10-exclusive release last week. So, of course, it’s time for another update.

Nvidia today released its GeForce Game Ready WHQL-certified 416.34 drivers, bringing optimizations for the much-anticipated as well as , and .

is available to play already, so if you are hopping in with the early crowd, these drivers should perhaps help you gain a few frames per second. has a release date of October 19, meanwhile will be leaving its early access tag behind on November 6.

There isn’t much else new with this update, barring a few bug fixes:

  • Games launch to a black screen when DSR is enabled. [2411501]
  • Some games produce red/green/blue shimmering line when played in full-screen mode and with G-SYNC enabled. [2041443]
  • [Windows Defender Application Guard][vGPU][Surround]: Surround cannot be enabled from the NVIDIA Control Panel when running Edge Browser with Application Guard over vGPU. [200444614]
  • [PUBG]: Issue with shadows may occur in the game. [2414749]
  • When HDR is enabled, games show green corruption. [2400448]

Windows 10 Issues

  • [Windows Defender Application Guard][vGPU][Surround]: Edge Browser with Application Guard cannot be opened when Surround is enabled. [200443580]
  • [GeForce GTX 1060]AV receiver switches to 2-channel stereo mode after 5 seconds of audio idle. [2204857]
  • [GeForce GTX 1080Ti]: Random DPC watchdog violation error when using multiple GPUs on motherboards with PLX chips. [2079538]
  • [SLI][HDR][Battlefield 1]: With HDR enabled, the display turns pink after changing the refresh rate from 144 Hz to 120 Hz using in-game settings. [200457196]
  • [Firefox]: Cursor shows brief corruption when hovering on certain links in Firefox. [2107201]
  • [Far Cry 5]: Flickering occurs in the game. [2400207]

Additional Issues

  • 2079538 – Random DPC watchdog violation error when using multiple GPUs on motherboards with LX chips
    • Workaround: Use the following tool to enable MSI mode as a temporary workaround (only apply changes to each NVIDIA GPU installed):

  • 2107201 – Cursor shows brief corruption when hovering on certain links in Firefox/Steam
  • 2246057 – Gears of War 4 may freeze/crash after extended period of gameplay
  • 2204857 – AVR switch to 2-channel stereo mode after 5 seconds of idle
  • 2400914 – Monster Hunter World flickers with grey/black bars with Volume Rendering off
  • 2400207 – Shadow flicker in Far Cry 5 after driver update
  • 200455193 – Flickering on textures in Witcher 3
  • 2418574 – Win7, Win8.1: G-sync not disengaging after exiting games
  • Custom color settings reset on reboot in Windows 10 FCU
  • Black screen on BenQ ZOWIE XL2730 when refresh rate set to 144Hz
    • Workaround: Recommend setting refresh rate to 120Hz due to off spec timing in EDID.
  • 2406118 – Higher DPC latency on PCI-E Gen2 motherboards

Additional Issues

A very specific known issue with the GeForce Experience in-game overlay also exists, where if it is invoked with the Alt+Z keyboard shortcut in while it is in Windowed or Windowed [Fullscreen] mode, the game will freeze. There’s a fix for this issue, but it’s only available with the GeForce Experience BETA client, which is available here. Nvidia says this update will be pushed as stable next week.
