Reddit Users Share NSFW Facts Learned At A Late Age, Proving People Are Clueless About Sex : Report

An AskReddit thread calling users to share “What NSFW (not safe for work) fact did you learn at an embarrassingly late age?” has gone viral, and the answers, while hilariously cringe-worthy, provide sadly compelling proof that comprehensive sex education is critical to ensuring that future generations are not complete idiots.

Here are the best of the worst, along with some clarifying medical and anatomical knowledge (in case you too missed that lesson in health class). Suffice to say, this article may also be a little NSFW.

In one of the top-rated posts, a Reddit user called Silentcmh posted their late-in-life realization: “That being circumcised didn’t mean the head of your dick gets chopped off. I was…too old when I found that out.” In reality, circumcision only removes the skin that covers the head (the glans) of the penis. Invented as a religious rite, the practice became widely favored even amongst non-religious parents on the basis that circumcised penises are more hygienic. And while there is scientific evidence supporting the notion that circumcised men are less likely to contract sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the degree of protection is quite low, and foreskin or not, safe sex means using condoms. For an informative and humorous breakdown on circumcision, watch this.

Next up, clamerous wrote: “I had to break it to my 27-year-old friend that she doesnt (sic) pee from her clit.” Along the same lines, other posts stated “[I didn’t know that] Ladies have three holes in their bottom half,” and “My buddy thought the penis went into the clitoris at the age of 19.” Judging by the sheer number of upvotes, comments, and many additional posts of a similar nature (many centered on now knowing where urine exits the female body), confusion about women’s basic anatomy is depressingly common.

So, yes, women have three holes in the pelvic region: the vagina, the urethra, and the anus. The opening of a woman’s urethra is located within the labia, below the clitoris (which is located inward from the labia majora but outside/above the labia minora) and above the vaginal orifice.
