The latest Pokémon Go update is live and brings a bunch of changes to the game including possibly new Shiny Pokémon, Raid Battles and more.
Niantic announced that the Legendary Bird Trio (Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno) will once again appear in Raid Battles for a limited time, and then will be replaced by Mewtwo. Prior to this update, Mewtwo was only available to catch if a player received an EX Pass.
As with past Pokémon Go updates, more goodies are being discovered in real-time so we’ve compiled all the changes in the popular mobile game that were previously unannounced.
Early reports from Pokémon Go players is that Geodude and Grimer are appearing as Shiny Pokémon. Shiny Grimer is completely green (different from its normal purple color) while Shiny Geodude is gold instead of grey.
It’s unclear whether Alola Geodude and Alola Grimer also received shiny forms but we will update as soon as we learn more.
The latest update also added a shiny symbol when encountering a Pokémon so that players know when they have stumbled upon one of these rare Pokémon.
Pokémon that appear in Raids have changed with this latest update. Along with the change in Pokémon, Niantic confirmed the timing for these battles have also changed.
From Sept. 13 to (at least) Sept. 20, Raid Eggs will hatch in only 15 minutes with Raid Battle times increased to 90 minutes. Here’s the list of all the new Pokémon appearing in different Raid tiers.
NEW EGG POKEMON
Pokémon Go players looking to fill their Pokedex may have a hard time getting a region-exclusive Pokémon like Mr. Mime or Kangaskhan. However, during this new event the four region-exclusive Pokémon will appear in 7km eggs alongside the Alola Pokémon.
Be sure to get out there and hatch as many Eggs as possible to grab these rare Pokémon.
