Woman carrying fake gun and behaving erratically on ASU’s Tempe campus arrested

A woman carrying a fake gun and behaving abnormally at Arizona State University’s Tempe campus was arrested Friday evening, officials say.

ASU Police Department spokeswoman Brenda Carrasco said police received a call about a woman “behaving erratically” while holding a gun.

A large group of police responded instantly and “got her immediately,” Carrasco said.

Police “found that the gun was a toy gun,” Carrasco said. The woman is not a student or affiliated with the university, she said.

The incident, which occurred near the Memorial Union, is under investigation.
