A MAN in his late 20s has been stabbed in Westminster – just a stone’s throw from Parliament.
The victim was attacked in Rampayne Street, one of London’s most exclusive residential areas.
The site of the incident is just a short walk from famous institutions such as Tate Britain and the Palace of Westminster.
Police rushed to the scene at around 6pm yesterday following reports of a fight between two men.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 18:04hrs on Friday, 5 October to Rampayne Street SW1 following reports of males fighting.
“Officers attended with London Ambulance Service.
“A male aged in his late 20s was discovered inside a residential building suffering from stab wounds.
“He has been taken to a south London hospital; we await an update as to his condition.
“There have been no arrests. A crime scene is in place.”
Statistics show knife offences in London have reached their highest level in seven years.
Crimes involving a knife or blade have increased to over 40,000 in the year leading up to March 2018.
