The authorities have charged a man in the death of nine-year-old Trinity Love Jones, who was found in a duffel bag in Los Angeles. The man, Emiel Lamar Hunt, 38, was charged with one count of murder and will be arraigned on Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Hunt is reportedly the boyfriend of Jones’ mother, the sheriff’s department reported. Hunt is one of two persons that were detained in the case. The other individual has not been charged as the sheriff’s office said it is pending investigation in the ongoing homicide case.
Hunt was located and arrested in the early morning hours of March 9, according to the sheriff’s department. He was asleep in his car in a parking lot located near the San Diego International Airport. He was arrested without incident, the sheriff’s office said. He is being held on a $2 million bail.
Hunt has a criminal history that includes a conviction of child abuse in 2005, the Los Angeles Times reported. He was sentenced to 12 years in a state prison, according to the news outlet.
Jones’ body was found on March 5 near an equestrian trail in Hacienda Heights, California. Her cause of death has not been released by the coroner.
