LOS ANGELES, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) — The shooter who caused at least 11 injuries Wednesday night at a bar in Ventura County, Southern California, was confirmed dead, according to local authorities.
“The shooter was down inside, deceased,” Sgt. Eric Buschow of Ventura County Sheriff’s Department told the press.
The injures in the mass shooting at the bar in Thousand Oaks city increased from an earlier reported six to at least 11, said authorities.
A deputy was shot in confrontation with the shooter, said Buschow, adding he had no further information on the current status of the deputy and the others injured.
He said there will be long investigation into the shooting. “The bar, which is the crime scene, will be quiet for sometime,” he added.
Officers were informed that the suspect was a Middle Eastern man in his early 20s wearing all black clothing and with a beard, according to local media VC Star.
Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident at about 11:30 p.m. local time (0730 GMT, Thursday). Several ambulances were called to the scene and authorities were urging the public to stay away from the area.
