Samoa police have called for post mortems on two children who died last weekend in two separate incidents.
According to TV1 Samoa, the National Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital confirmed on Sunday that a seven-year-old girl had died from injuries which indicated she may have been raped.
Meanwhile, on Savaii, the Malietoa Tanumafili II hospital reported to police that a seven-year-old boy died from a gun shot wound.
TV1 Samoa reports that initial investigations revealed the boy’s father had been shooting chickens for food when a bullet ricocheted off concrete and hit the boy.
Police have launched investigations into both cases.
