PLAYSTATION owners can download a fantastic PS4 game for free and it could be a hit with Nintendo Switch fans too.
95. That’s how many games are listed as free-to-play on the Sony PlayStation store right now. Most of them have been available for quite some time. And you’ll know most of their names.
Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warframe, Realm Royale. They’re all free and all decent fun without having to spend a penny.
But another free game joined the free-to-play section on the PSN shop this week and we suspect that it could be a hit with fans of Nintendo’s long-running Animal Crossing series.
The game in question, is Paraiso Island, an island life sim developed and published by Arcade Distillery.
For those wondering where this game has been all their lives, it appears to have only joined the free-to-play section earlier this week on March 5th.
If you’re curious, Arcade Distillery are a New York based company who’ve previously released games such as Plague Road, War Theatre, Mecho Tales, SkullPirates and more games across the PS Vita, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The only real downside to the game, as far are we can tell, is that, it’s so fresh, so new, that no-one’s played the damned thing yet.
We can’t find a single review. Nada.
Although the above screenshot is enough to convince us we’re onto a winner. Equally, anything that gives me a smidge of Animal Crossing on my PS4 is bound to be good fun.
Here’s a bit more info about the game from the creators:
Paraiso Island is a free-to-play island life sim. Explore a cheerful tropical island, meet wacky animal residents, help them with daily tasks, and decorate your own home with furnishings! Plant and harvest fruit, go fishing, or just relax and enjoy the scenery. Features a real-time day/night cycle, special events, and more surprises!
Also, it turns out the devs are brilliant people too, as this next except will explain:
More than a game, Paraiso Island has been developed to make the real world a better place. As part of One Earth Rising’s commitment to global welfare, a portion of all proceeds from Paraiso Island will be donated in support of disaster relief.
For the time being Paraiso Island is only available on the US PSN Store, although, we suspect it’ll come to the EU shortly. So for now, you’ll have to set up a new PSN ID if you want to play.
Reminder: Similiar to the PlayStation 3, the PS4 ties your PSN store region to your PSN ID. So to change your PSN store region, you’ll need to create a new ID that is tied to that particular region. More details on this can be found here.
On top of this excellent looking Animal Crossing-esk title though, it’s also worth reminding yourself that ‘hey, new PS Plus games are now available’.
That’s right. As of Tuesday the new March 2019 games were rolled out. So keep reading for a reminder of what Sony has in store for you this month (and whether they’re any good.)
What are the FREE PlayStation Plus games, right now?
In March 2019, players can download Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered and the exceptional puzzle game from Jonathan Blow, The Witness.
Both games are available to download today… but are they any good?
Activision’s colossal Call of Duty series is instantly recognisable to most people that owned a console this or last generation, but has Modern Warfare aged well since its 2007 release?
And is 2016’s The Witness – an enigmatic first-person puzzler set on a seemingly-deserted tropical island, dotted from one end to the other with a vast network of interconnected puzzles – worthy of that precious space on your hard drive?
We’ve pulled together some of the main review scores and opinions for both games on the link. So click through if you want to know if these games are worthy of your attention.
As a reminder, this month’s PlayStation Plus line-up no longer includes PS3 and PS Vita games, as from this month they’re no longer offered as Sony looks to phase out their legacy consoles.
