Protected areas in Albania receive over 158,000 tourists in October

TIRANA, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) — The protected areas in Albania attracted over 158,000 tourists home and abroad during October, Albanian Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi wrote in the social media.

The Karavasta Lagoon in west Albania has become the favorite destination thanks to the arrival of flamingos, and other birds.

According to Klosi, besides the coastal beauty, Albania also has a very good scenery and climate in its protected areas.

The protected areas occupy about 20 percent of Albanian territory, and are considered an opportunity for development of sustainable tourism.
