Piers Morgan fumes over Ant and Dec TV Choice Awards win: ‘At least I pitched up for work’

PIERS Morgan is a quintessential sore loser.

The Good Morning Britain presenter wasn’t happy to learn that Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly had won the Best Entertainment Show for Saturday Night Takeaway at Monday night’s TV Choice Awards.

Piers Morgan and his ITV Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid were discussing the events of the night before on the programme today.

The 53-year-old wasn’t happy to hear Ant, 42, picked up a gong, despite only appearing in two Saturday Night Takeaway episodes.

Piers also vowed to boycott all awards shows in future.

“I’ve decided not to go to any more awards ceremonies,” he explained.

“My award comes every day from you, the viewers.

“Ant and Dec winning everything when half of them isn’t even there – it’s ridiculous, isn’t it?

“At least I pitched up for work.”

Ant ducked out of all showbiz commitments following two stints in rehab and a drink-driving conviction.

Ant will not return to TV until 2019 and Saturday Night Takeaway has been cancelled until 2020.

On the other hand, Piers’ telly career is booming.

The Killer Women host signed a new contract which will keep him on Good Morning Britain until the end of 2019.

“I’ve just signed an extension to my deal that takes me through to the end of 2019, people don’t know that,” he told The Sun.

“It’s an extension to an extension. I did two extensions in the space of four months.

“So I must be doing something right at the moment. But that can soon change.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
