The so-called Harrison Lesser Watch fetched £6.2million on classic sitcom Only Fools And Horses.

But it is tipped to make just a fraction of that massive figure in real life.

It will go under the hammer at Aston’s Auctioneers in Dudley, West Mids, and has been verified by megafan Perry Aghajanoff, the chairman of the Only Fools And Horses Appreciation Society.

Steve Kennedy, of Aston’s, said: “There is a huge market for anything to do with the show.

“It is in pristine condition and has been perfectly cared for by a true lover of the show”

“People love the programme and anything to do with its history is sure to create a huge buzz.

“We’ve given it an estimate of up to £15,000 but, at the end of the day, you can never be sure in this business – it could go for well above that.”

The timepiece, which does not work, was made specifically by the BBC for the famous Only Fools episode in December 1996.

Show insiders claim that the storyline was actually based on fact.

The watch was modelled on a design British clockmaker John Harrison drew in the 18th Century but was never made.

Auctioneer Mr Kennedy added: “It is not a working watch so its value comes solely from its importance to the Only Fools story.

“It is in pristine condition and has been perfectly cared for by a true lover of the show.

“The watch was used in the auction scenes of the show, so it’s nice that it has come full circle and will now go under the hammer in real life.”

The sale takes place on Thursday, September 20
