MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised to do his best to build the strongest squad possible this summer ahead of next season.
United are set for a huge overhaul over the next few months.
With Old Trafford bigwigs settled on Solskjaer as manager, they are prepared to back him to the hilt in the transfer market.
Several players are expected to leave the club as well, with United’s first team likely to look completely different next season.
And Solskjaer has sent a message to fans before he begins the upheaval.
“The only thing that I can promise is that I’ll do it to the best of my ability”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
He told the club’s Twitter: “I’m excited by the whole project, and I know it’s a great responsibility being in charge of this great club.
“It’s a big responsibility, the only thing that I can promise is that I’ll do it to the best of my ability.”
It seems Solskjaer hasn’t managed to sell his “project” to all fans though
Replying to the video, several raised doubts over his ability as the club’s manager.
One wrote: “We are finishing 10th next season. Can’t believe Ed Woodward’s given him the job after 6 weeks when he had 6 months to decide.
“You talk too much. Act!” another demanded.
Another simply put: “Mr sweet words.”
“Can almost guarantee we will buy max 3 average players,” a fourth responded.
Young goalkeeper Dean Henderson is expected to return to Sheffield United next season having helped to guide them to promotion from the Championship this term.
Revealing his plans for the 22-year-old, Solskjaer said: “Let’s see what we do with Dean. He obviously won promotion with Sheffield United and that’s been fantastic for him.
“If he plays a year in the Premier League, for him that might be the best thing.”
