MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has once more sparked the wrath of fans for claiming his youngsters are “not good”.
The Portuguese manager has cut a forlorn figure during the Red Devils’ pre-season tour in Singapore.
He has repeatedly pointed out the club’s lack of transfer activity, singled out players for individual criticism and took aim at Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Even after his side beat La Liga giants Real Madrid 2-1 in the International Champions Cup this morning, he claimed it was “meaningless” and chose to criticise his youth team players.
“My professional players were amazing all pre-season because they know that against a good team and good players, we have just a few players here and lots of kids,” Mourinho said in the post-match press conference.
“Our kids are really, really young because the team of U23s – the team was relegated.
“So the quality was not good, so we prefer to bring kids of 16 years old.
“People like [Ander] Herrera, [Eric] Bailly, [Matteo] Darmian, [Juan] Mata – they were phenomenal all pre-season playing almost every minute of every game.
“The game today – win 2-1, lose 2-1, draw 2-2 – doesn’t change anything.”
Red Devils supporters watching the comments were far from pleased.
“Just get him out of our club ASAP,” one wrote.
Another added: “Dear Jose Mourinho, if you cannot harness the desperation and drive of the young players you selected to the tour and play them instead of risking further injury to the players you already know about then you don’t deserve those talented kids.”
And a third asked: “Can someone tell Jose Mourinho to just keep quiet and work with the kids?
“Manchester City is doing it and PSG. You do not see a future for Man Utd. Please just go.”
